A new path

For a number of years now photography has been hobby and passion of mine. But it has always been just that a hobby. I bought my first DSLR (Canon 550d) a couple of years back with my tax return and everything I know has been self taught. My skills and knowledge come from: reading online tutorials, magazines/books, the instruction booklet a few times, and most important of all; taking lots of photos.
My interest and commitment has wavered a few times but right now I love photography more then ever. I have been looking at photography courses for some time now, and finally I have found one that I can squeeze into my busy work schedule (and budget). Starting on the 18/06 I will start my two year, part time course of a Diploma in photo-imaging. Fingers crossed this takes me in a new direction in life. I couldn't think of anything I'd rather do in life than be a photographer. Below are the photos I submitted to get accepted into the course.

I was lucky enough to get an AAA pass to The Scarecrows single launch at the HiFi in Melbourne. Would have to be my most memorable photography experience to date.
One of my favourite photos from the single launch.

Taken at the Mt Buller terrain park. Good day for photos, bad day for my knee.
I love using the panning technique to show motion. This was taken at Mt Buller.

I've done a number of games for the La Trobe Hockey team. Here's one of my favourite pictures from their games.

I was lucky enough to have this mustang drive by while I was practicing my panning shots. I love how this photo turned out.

Taken in Melbourne CBD.

Taken in Tokyo, Japan at the Sumo tournament in January 2012.

Taken on a cruise ship as I returned from New Zealand in 2011.

Taken with my Canon G12 at Elwood Beach. I love the flexibility this display screen provides.
